where to buy shrimp/seafood?

I%26#39;ve heard I shouldn%26#39;t buy shrimp/seafood from grocery stores or the trucks on the side of the road. Where is the best places to buy? We will be staying at The Beach Club in Fort Morgan. Thanks.

There are a bunch of seafood markets. Beaudreaux, Billy%26#39;s Seafood (my fave) and some more. Phone book has listings.

Lartigue%26#39;s Seafood Market 251-948-2644 is the best. It%26#39;s in Orange Beach - a short drive from Fort Morgan and well worth it! You can buy fresh, raw seafood or they will steam the seafood for you, perfectly spiced. We always order HUGE ';reds'; (shrimp) and pick them up already cooked. We have veggies and steaks cooking on the grill while others make the run to Orange Beach to pick up the shrimp. They are fabulous. It%26#39;s a nice change to eat great at the condo vs. crowded seafood restaurants. (Speaking of restaurants, the Gulf Shores Steamer is a great place for non-fried seafood - have always been happy with the food.) We also bought extra cooked shrimp the day before we left and put them in a cooler to share with our neighbors, who took care of our mail and stuff. The shrimp were just as good chilled.

Hi, I%26#39;ve been a lurker. Planning a trip for the end of April.

What is your opinion of Lester%26#39;s Seafood market? I definitely want to buy fresh.

Thanks!

JAFan,

Never heard of Lester%26#39;s Seafood. Do you know where it is? Fort Morgan Seafood is pretty good. Lartigue%26#39;s is, indeed, very good, as are Boudreaux, Billy%26#39;s and Blaylock%26#39;s. Billy%26#39;s is my favorite, but YMMV.

dd992emo,

Sorry I was mistaken about Lesters.

The seafood shop in Orange beach sounds great, but will be opposite direction heading back home to TN.

We are staying in a house down near Ft. Morgan, so than likely we will stop in at Ft. Morgan seafood on the way to the house and on the way home.

Definitely will buy local though.

Anyone know the price of Red Royals right now?

If you take the ferry across to the other side and turn right like you are going to mobile, there is a little lace on the left that sells fresch shripm and fish at give a way prices.

Lartigue%26#39;s!!!!! Look it up in the phone book when you get there! We%26#39;ve been to Gulf Shores probably 12 times, Lartigue%26#39;s is a must to buy fresh seafood!

Someone posted in another thread that there was a seafood place on Ft Morgan road that would cook or steam it for you. Does anyone know the name and if they have good stuff?

Mr Chumley--I was on the other thread that talked about the seafood market that steams the food for you. I couldn%26#39;t remember the name but my family visited them frequently last summer. Another poster said it%26#39;s called Ft. Morgan Seafood and it%26#39;s next to the Chevron Station. They are near where Hwy. 180 and 59 meet up. Very good shrimp and crab legs!

Just go to Bahama Bobs and enjoy their Royal Reds!!!! Ummmm Delicious and the margueritas----, right on the beach.
