My Final Report!

It%26#39;s Fri nite and we are home back in Illinois. Wed i believe I told you we went on the dolphin cruise and ate at Flippers. And Docs in GS was recomended by a gentleman at our pool. So we tried it, and won%26#39;t go back. Wed our last day was spent mostly on the beach, we had to take our tent down, it was so windy, so we just put our chairs sorta in the water. The surf was very heavy that day, but we went in the water somewhat and got hammered with the waves, not too far out tho. We just didn%26#39;t want the day to end, but soon it was time to go to the pool one last time and say goodbye to friends. We went to the Steamer for supper and it was great, as usual in our opinion. then it was back to the condo to clean out and pack up, boy was the tide coming in, wow! So we went to bed and up early to leave for New Orleans. Imagine our suprise when we got up at 5:30 and the water was up to the sea oats at the condo. I think some folks in the condo forgot to take their tent in, and their chairs and stuff, they were there about 10 pm but not at 5:30 am. Our first clue was the Perdido Beach service was moving all their boxes and unoccupied chairs accross the street, starting about 3 pm on Wed. Anyway, with no beach and the waves huge, it wasn%26#39;t so hard to leave GS. On the way out of town, we went by Big O%26#39;s, and we remembered it was a recommended breakfast place so we made a u turn and went back. And it was great and we loved it and it will be on top of the list next year. And again, everyone was very friendly. After we ate we went to Youngs to turn in our keys and off we went to New Orleans! Well yesterday was windy as all get out, especially on the pier, duh, but that was where our southern comfort tour began. Then this am it was a nightmare with rain and wind and we left there about 6:30am and headed home. All in all, we had a great experience on our vacation. Good friends, good weather until yesterday, and just a good all around fun time.. I read this forum all year long and will look forward to hearing about the rest of your vacations. And especially the comments from you locals. I would love to live down there, but we couldn%26#39;t live like we do for our week of vacation down there!

Thanks to all of you who have listened to me ramble and I love hearing from the locals as well. You make good recommendations to the rest of us to try.

Glad you enjoyed your trip! Still windy and surf-y down here this morning, so you%26#39;re not missing any beach weather. Doc%26#39;s in GS has not received very good reviews, but the one in OB is still good. Start planning for next summer!

Thanks Carol for the great TR and glad you had a good time! I was thinking about you on Thursday knowing that it would be a good day to leave! Always makes it easier when the weather is bad that day. Hope you%26#39;ll come back again soon and maybe try the Doc%26#39;s in Orange Beach, it%26#39;s good.
