jellyfish update

Any relief from the jellyfish yet?

We are coming down the first week of August.

I%26#39;m hoping they have found a new home by then!

jellyfish update

There were no ';purple'; flags flying today. But when we went down to check on our condo found meat tenderizer and vinegar our guests left. There were quite a few people in the water, on the beach, seemed to be having a great time. Just be careful and watch for the purple flags.

Thanks for your report! I know we are invading their home, but I sure hope they have found a new one by the time we get there!

Are the jellyfish gone yet?

We%26#39;ll be there Monday and I%26#39;m hoping they have moved on.

any new updates on these Jellyfish??? Okay, what in the world do you do, when you get bit? or is it Stung? ha Can you eat a Jellyfish?? ha

criss -- what i%26#39;ve seen from reading here about jellyfish, the best thing is either vinegar or meat tenderizer -- we are taking both. We%26#39;ll be down there the last week of August. Hope you have a great time.

There was a story on one of the major network shows yesterday about the jellies, But I had to leave for work, so I missed it.

It has been a problem all over in the gulf and east coast....

I caught some of the story about jellyfish on the CBS morning show. There%26#39;s been a large amount of jellyfish all over this summer--including beaches on the Atlantic Ocean too. I don%26#39;t remember all the reasons that scientists are giving for this rise, but two were global warming and pollution. The pollution aspect was interesting b/c it made me think about how something that we do in all over our country (spray pesticides and fertilizers on crops, for example) turns into run-off pollution that eventually affects our oceans. This also makes me worry that the jellyfish could continue to be a big problem in years to come for larger periods of time rather than the way we used to deal with them--maybe just a week or so every-so-often.

We were in Orange Beach the last week of July. The jellyfish were out in full force. My five year old got stung the first time he went into the water. He got relief from our pouring vinegar on his wounds. But he never went back into the gulf!

Just wanted to bump up this post. We%26#39;re leaving for Orange Beach on Friday and are hoping we%26#39;ll be able to spend some time in the gulf. Thanks!
