where to stay? first time!

My fiance and I are planning a getaway for 3 nights to coincide with a concert in Orange Beach. It will be just the two of us and I%26#39;m debating on a condo or hotel. I%26#39;ve seen mixed reviews on the Perdido Beach Resort which was what I was leaning towards. It%26#39;s early March so not really swimming weather, but I do want to be on the beach. I%26#39;m guessing it will still be pretty quiet so early in the season. Neither one of us has ever been to the area and I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you!!!

That time of year condos are still plentiful and inexpensive, so I would go that route. I assume your concert is at The Wharf, so you might consider renting a condo right there. It%26#39;s not on the beach, but the beach is a 10 minute drive. If you want to stay on the beach keep it in the western end of OB or the eastern end of GS to put yourself closer to The Wharf. We stayed at The Beach Club which is like 12 min from Gulf Shores. It%26#39;s a resort w/ lots of amenities...tennis, spa, every condo has a gulf view. Private beach and away from all the hustle and bustle of gulf shores.

You must drive really fast or have never experienced any traffic. Beach Club is a very nice place to stay, but more like 25 to 30 minutes from Gulf Shores.

mnao, many of the condos have heated pools. Especially on a day like today, when it was 72 and the pool is heated, would be quite comfortable at the pool.

Don%26#39;t hesitate to negotiate with an owner of a condo this time of the year. Real estate companies don%26#39;t negotiate, but owners will.

We stayed at Beach club in January. It was the off season. It took 12-15 min. to get to Gulf Shores. If you are looking for a resort w/ clean grounds, private beach, tennis, spa and don%26#39;t mind drivig to get to a restaurant (Beach Club also has its own restaurant and grille), then this is a fine choice. Really, we had no reason to leave The Beach Club, other than to take a drive into Gulf Shores or Orange Beach for restaurants and a bit of shopping. It was no big deal.
