hotel for 1 night stay outside of birmingham

We would like to stay outside of Birmingham one night in a safe, clean hotel that is around $100 preferably. We will be traveling I65 and I tried to find some hotels in Pelham, but haven%26#39;t been successful with availabilities. Would Clanton be a safe area? Is there another area that would be better? It will be late before we arrive as we%26#39;re driving from northern Kentucky.

The Lakeshore exit on I 65 is a safe area. There%26#39;s a LaQuinta and several other hotels. It%26#39;s about 15-20 miles or so north of Pelham and has several restaurants, a movie theater, and shopping areas with an Academy Sports, Old Navy, Hobby Lobby, etc. It%26#39;s just on the outskirts of B%26#39;ham.

Another option would be to stop north of Birmingham. At Exit 271 (Gardendale), there is a Best Western and Microtel. At Exit 267 (Fultondale), there are several places - Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, La Quinta (brand new), Fairfield Inn (brand new) and Comfort Inn. Lots of options for food as well. Both are very safe areas.

thank you for your responses. I have checked each hotel listed in Fultondale and the two hotels you mentioned in Gardendale and there is no availability for my dates. I checked the Best Western,Hampton Inn, and Hilton at Lake shore exit with the same results.

Do you feel that Clanton isn%26#39;t a safe area for a family? I could find hotels there. There is a UK/Alabama game and I think many hotels might be booked because of this. We%26#39;re just on our way to Gulf Shores for vacation. There are plenty near Huntsville, but we were hoping to get a little farther down the state before we have to stop. Again, thanks for your help!

I think Clanton is just as safe, I%26#39;m just as familiar with the hotels/restaurants at that exit. We stop at one exit which has Peach Park (great peach pies) on the way back from Gulf Shores.

meant to say ';not'; as familiar with hotels...

Clanton is safe enough. There are just newer, nicer places in the other areas mentioned. Plus, there are more dining options.

There is a Days Inn and a Best Western at Exit 205 in Clanton. The Best Western would be my first choice because it is newer.

Clanton is definitely safe, although not the newest hotels. Exit #205 off I-65 has quite a few near Peach Park with fast food nearby.

Another option is Alabaster or Calera- brand new hotels built there and very safe area just south of Pelham.

The next best place south of Clanton is Prattville. New hotels there with better restaurants than Clanton has to offer.

Welcome to Best Western Inn!

The Best Western Inn is ideally located on Interstate 65 at Exit 181-Highway 14 adjacent to Cracker Barrel and Ruby Tuesday. It is easily accessible from the Interstate.

Thank you for your replies. I will check these places out for availability and price. I appreciate your help!

Thanks!

Agreed that the Prattville area is a good option from Clanton, if you can add that much to your drive.

To give you an idea... Pelham, south of Birmingham, that you spoke of, is at exit 246.

Prattville exits with clean newer hotels are 179 and 181, so...that is about 65 miles more. If searching these addresses may include Prattville, Millbrook, and Wetumpka (not sure what %26#39;city'; the exits are actually in), just be sure and notice the exit numbers. Definitely a better option than Clanton.

If you want to stop North, and Fultondale is booked up, you could try exit 308 Cullman.

If something should open up at 255 in Birmingham (Lakeshore) I do not agree with the poster that said this area is safe. It looks nice, but there have been a lot of problems over there. No offense to anyone; just reading the paper.

Have fun,

Miller
