Trip Report

This past weekend was our trip to Gulf Shores. We arrived Saturday night. As soon as the kids woke up Sunday morning, they were ready to hit the beach. So they played in the sand just outside the condo in their jammies. After a quick trip to town for breakfast and to pick up a few things from Target, we came back and spent the day on the beach. Perfect beach day!! Weather was in the 80%26#39;s, not too hot. No jellyfish at all. The ocean water was a lil cool when you first got in, but once you got adjusted it was fine. That night we ordered pizza to be delivered instead of fighting the traffic. After eating we went back on the beach, to take pics and allow the kids to play in the sand some more.

Monday morning it was a lil cloudy and windy. After taking a walk on the beach we decided to head to the zoo. The zoo is kinda small but really nice. Then we eat a late lunch @ Lulu%26#39;s. We enjoyed it, but I must say, Lulu%26#39;s is more about the atmosphere than the food. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, which I didn%26#39;t consider to be too bad considering how crowded they were. THe kids enjoyed playing in the sand while we waited. Our food was good as was the service. But in my opinion you don%26#39;t get enough food for the amount of money you pay. However, the kids meals are not expensive at all, and the amount of food is comparable to other places. I would consider going again. After stopping at a few souviner shops we headed back to the beach. It had warmed up and the sun had came out, but we saw several jellfish.

We left on Tuesday coming home.

We had a good trip and will most definately consider returning to Gulf Shores again in October another year.

We stayed at Sunrise Village, condo #110. We had a balcony overlooking the beach / ocean. It was really nice and well worth what we paid. The only thing I didn%26#39;t like was that the living room was a lil small and when the sofa bed was open it wasn%26#39;t hardly any room left in there. I would consider staying there again, however if we return this late in the year again, we will stay somewhere with a heated pool and / or hot tub. Our pool was really small and since it wasn%26#39;t heated it was freezing. The kids wanted to stay on the beach most of the time anyway.

Thanks to everyone that helped me plan our trip! :)

Trip Report

Glad you enjoyed your trip! I like Sunrise Village, mostly because it%26#39;s nice and quiet down that way. Those end units are the best in the complex.

At first I was surprised you had a 30 minute wait at Lulu%26#39;s, but then I remembered Monday was a holiday so more people were out and about.

Hope you come back soon!

Trip Report

It is such a shame that Lulu%26#39;s has gone so corporate. When she was at the Fish River Bridge she served good quantities of food at moderate prices. Big Daddy%26#39;s on Fish River at Hiway 32 is a good replacement

We are already talking about maybe returning next year around the same time. Even my husband who really doesn%26#39;t care for the beach, would rather be in the mountains said it was a good trip and would go back again if the kids wanted to.

Am I missing something ya%26#39;ll, wasn%26#39;t this during Shrimp Fest? In that case a 30 minute wait at any resto is a bonus. Anyway it sounds like you had a great trip and I hope you%26#39;ll come again soon. You can%26#39;t beat Gulf Shores in October!

Yes, we ate at Lulu%26#39;s the Monday after Shrimp Fest, so I%26#39;m sure a lot of people were still in town from that. As I said, they were very crowded, and I was surprised they got us in as soon as they did. By the time we visited it the gift shop, let the kids take a peek at the monkey that was visiting from the zoo, and then they played in the sand for a few minutes, they were beeping us to come be seated.

It seems like a lot of people stayed for the week after Shrimp Fest, more than we usually see. Next time you%26#39;re in town you might want to stop by the Hangout. The kids will love it. It%26#39;s similar to LuLu%26#39;s in that the atmosphere is what it%26#39;s all about, the food is nothing special but it%26#39;s on the beach and has tons of things for the kids to do.

Thanks again for your excellent TR!
