Best southern stlye food in Birmingham?

Heading to town tomorrow for work, any suggestions on a good spot for some traditional southern food in the Hoover area? First trip to Birmingham...

Bert%26#39;s on the Bluff in Hoover on Shades Crest Road is the absolute best with a great view (from your car, not the dining area from atop Shades Mountain.

from the review we cannot wait to go....sounds terrific! i wonder if they have cracklin cornbread???? no matter, i am sure the pot liquor is savory just the same.

Brazil,

I agree 100% with your suggestion, but how in the world does someone from Brazil know about Bert%26#39;s on the Bluff? It%26#39;s great food in a not so good looking building.

Not sure it%26#39;s still open.

Another good place in Hoover is Dale%26#39;s in Riverchase.

It is in a strip right on Hwy 31, (south of Hwy 150 %26amp; north of Valleydale Road). If you ask the locals where is the ';old Wal Mart bldg.';.

(I think now there is a Hobby Lobby and Office Depot there?)

Anyway, we eat at Dale%26#39;s a good bit, and they have the Meat+3 options as well as other things on the menu. It is comfortably decorated, and the food is VERY fresh, and VERY good, VERY generous portions, waitresses show you pictures of their kids, etc.

They are open for lunch AND dinner....or should I say dinner and supper.

Miller

Jim-n-Nicks on Oxmoor is very good southern. Not a fancy place, similiar to TGIFridays atmosphere

I have not had burts on bluff since owner change...either way...CANT beat Jim-n-nicks at any location! although, the oxmoor one is my fav too!

not sure about the Fridays similarity, but it is down home, fresh, full bar and darn good! must try the sausage app or full meal....mmmm....
