My wife and I want to visit the area for the first time in late March. We prefer a beach front, smoke-free condo with on-site amenities that would be all adult in a location that is not too crowded for pure r%26amp;r; the parties and action can be somewhere else. We also don%26#39;t want to fight miles of traffic to get to good restaurants for dinner. What fits the bill, or are we asking too much? Which is the best beach front, Ft. Morgan, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, points east? Thanks for the info.
Gulf Shores in Late March for Adults
I have a personal stake in it but I recommend the Crystal Towers in west beach (not beach front)
Gulf Shores in Late March for Adults
Well, to begin with you won%26#39;t see miles and miles of traffic in late March. Or any other time for that matter. Tons of restaurants within a 15-20 minute drive of wherever you stay.
The ';all-adult'; thing will be an issue. GS/OB sells themselves as a family destination, so we get a lot of families. Your best bet is probably Fort Morgan. Lots of uncrowded beach and a good selection of houses and condos. The Beach Club, while it does have its share of family groups, is big and open enough that you can avoid the kiddie groups. Check it out.
We like it b/c there aren%26#39;t as many Spring Breakers as there are in other areas of the panhandle. And there are plenty of great restaurants and the traffic isn%26#39;t bad. We try to stay in Gulf Shores b/c we do want some action, but it%26#39;s a little quieter and prettier over in Orange Beach or Perido Key, where you are still just 10-15 from all the action.
A good adult day trip would be to Biloxi for a little gambling, a good meal, and some golf for the guys/shopping for the ladies. Check www.goodtimetours.com for a day coach trip leaving from the Track.
Gulf Shores is very nice, but not much fine dining. Try www.gulfshoresrental.com a friend of mine ownes several condos. We prefer the Crystal towers
Definitely Fort Morgan area. Well worth the drive in to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach if you want to try a restaurant there.
