I am going to travel from Eufaula to Pickwick Dam but do not want to travel on interstates. I am also interested in knowing how many miles that route would be.

You can take Hwy 431 north all the way to Huntsville and then take 72 west past Florence. At Iuka, MS, take hwy 25 North. The number will change to 57 in TN. You may have to do interstate for a few miles where 431 and I-20 are the same near Oxford/Anniston, AL. This route will be a little over 400 miles.
An alternate route would be Hwy 82 west through Montgomery to Tuscaloosa. There you will pick up Hwy 43/13 North to Muscle Shoals where you will follow 72 west as above. This route would be about 350 miles.
