Restaurant Suggestions

We will be coming down again the last of May for our annual ';girls only'; vacation. Want to try some different restaurants this time - will still go to Sea %26amp; Suds, Lulus and probably Tacky Jacks II. I know we are going to Original Oyster House this trip and are looking for a couple more - thinking about DeSotos and Docs. Any suggestions? There will be 2 adults (me and my sister), 3 19-22 yr. olds and 3 15-16 yr. olds.

Restaurant Suggestions

I like DeSoto%26#39;s, especially for lunch. It%26#39;s kind of old and dumpy, but the food is pretty good. Great salads. The original Doc%26#39;s on Canal still gets good comments, but the new one in Sawgrass Center on Hwy 59 has taken some hits on this board and from some locals.

Ginny Lane%26#39;s in The Wharf is good. Cosmo%26#39;s on Canal Road. New place called Indigo Joe%26#39;s in the Colonial Pinnacle Ctr on Hwy 59 is pretty good for sandwiches. Bahama Bob%26#39;s on West Beach Blvd is good. The younger ones might like Lulu%26#39;s. Not a big fan, but it%26#39;s popular.

I had thought about Bahama Bob%26#39;s too. I saw it when DH and I were down last week but never think about it when planning. What type menu do they have?

We usually always end up going to Lulu%26#39;s mainly for the atmosphere. I told them that if they wanted to we could skip it this time, but that didn%26#39;t go over to well.

The Docs on Canal is the one I was thinking about.

BB%26#39;s is typical of the menus down here. Burgers, fried shrimp, po%26#39; boys, some nice salads and usually a grilled fish of some kind. They have a nice little deck that faces the Gulf. Their bigggest issue is their tiny parking lot. Pretty sure they have a full bar. It%26#39;s been a while since I was there.

Also, there is always Mikee%26#39;s, Shrimp Basket and Hooter%26#39;s. Gulf Island Grill is next to Hooter%26#39;s, but the two times I went there it wasn%26#39;t very good.

Oh yeah, Lulu%26#39;s cracks me up. During the winter they serve their drinks in one size plastic cup, then come spring break they go to a smaller plastic cup (same price or maybe even higher) until around October. Then back to what we call the ';locals'; cup... :)

2 more recommendations:

Perdido Beach Resort- (http://www.perdidobeachresort.com/) Went here for lunch. Avacado/tomato salad was superb. Good view of the beach if you get near the glass.

Pink Pony- (http://www.pinkponypub.net/) AWESOME location on the beach where 59 ends at the Gulf. Pub food. Great for drinks on their deck at sunset.
