Trip Report March 1-8

I just returned from GS so this may not be very detailed since I am tired! Here goes...

We arrived on March 1 at about 6pm. We live in Middle TN and it took about 9 hrs. to get there. We rented a condo at The Enclave from the owner on vrbo.com. Our group consisted of me (37 yr old F), DH, DS (12 yrs old.), my mom, brother and sis in law. We had a 3 bedr./3 bath. The condo was very nice and very spacious. The balcony was a corner wrap-around and had a great view both ways of the beach.

Weather - very nice. It was in the 60s - 70 every day. It did not rain during any of the days. (rained 1 night) The beach was absolutely beautiful. Very clean. The outdoor pool was too cold, but we did use the indoor pool.

Food - We ate out every day. Here are my reviews of restaurants:

Lulu%26#39;s - We ate here 3 times. Needless to say, we loved it! We did not have to wait at all. I think it was due to the time of year. My favorite was the Mahi Tacos. I also loved the salsa and fried green tomatoes.

Doc%26#39;s Seafood Shack - This was our absolute favorite! The fried shrimp was the best we have ever had. The gumbo was also yummy.

Lambert%26#39;s - It was a fun place, but we did not like the food too much. I know that a lot of people love it but it was just not our type of food. It tasted ';canned.'; The waiters are very nice though.

Hope%26#39;s Cheesecake - We stopped here one afternoon after reading about it on the internet. This is the best cheesecake I have ever had. I bought a 6 pack of the cheesecake ';cupcakes'; so that I could sample 6 kinds. My favorite was snickerdoodle. They also have the best key lime pie.

One day we drove to Biloxi to go to the casinos. It is a very long drive! We did not win any money, but we had fun. We ate the buffet at Beau Rivage and it was very good.

Activities- The men mostly golfed, and I can%26#39;t report on that since they didn%26#39;t tell me details. The women shopped. The Tanger Outlet mall was not too great. It had been damaged and a lot of it was being repaired. We really enjoyed going to the Wharf to the little shops there. I got some really good jewelry deals. We also found a ';back room'; at Sand Dollar Lifestyles with 75% off shoes. I got leather Tevas for 40 dollars. (reg. $100)

That is all I can think of right now. If you have any questions let me know.

Glad you had a good time. The Enclave is a nice property. I%26#39;m not a fan of Lambert%26#39;s (motto: If it ain%26#39;t fried, it ain%26#39;t food), either. Hope%26#39;s is indeed good, if a little pricey. The Wharf is doing some pretty good business these days.

Thanks for the review...

We will be there in JUne..

I can%26#39;t place docs, where is it??

I think the wharf should be easier to find,

I think alot of tourist might not find it,

But it is a nice thing to do when you are over baked for the day...And need a break from the sun and sand.

Docs in OB or GS?? I have not tried the one in OB but the Docs in GS was absolutely rancid. It was the worst experience dining that I have ever had in going to the island for 10 years. Food took forever to get to the table and it was cold. Our server was horrible also. I hear the one in OB is much better though.

Doc%26#39;s in OB is at the corner of Canal Road and Hwy 161 (OB Blvd). Doc%26#39;s in GS is on Hwy 59 about a half mile north of the beach in Sawgrass Ctr. Don%26#39;t go there any more, but I%26#39;ve heard from other locals that neither location is as good as the original was when it was the only one.
