Question about the Ferry

Taking the family to Dauphin Island the week of March 17th, and trying to sort of scout out things to do (aside from just hang out near the ocean). I have a question on the ferry to Ft Morgan. It looks like it%26#39;ll cost about $40 to take the car over and back on the Ferry, but only $10 for the round trip on foot. Is there anything to see and do where the fairy stops in Ft. Morgan if we%26#39;re on foot, or will we need the car to get anywhere.

Secondly, any good places on the Island to go and watch NCAA tourney games?

Thanks,

Mike

Question about the Ferry

Mike,

Definitely take your car! Then you can drive down Fort Morgan Rd. into Gulf Shores or beyond. The fort and museum are good to explore for less than 1/2 a day, unless you%26#39;re a huge history buff. Maybe you could take your family to Gulf Shores for lunch.

Make sure you%26#39;re back in time for the ferry back to DI, or you%26#39;ll have a LONG drive around the bay!

Question about the Ferry

You will need your car because once you leave the ferry you can drive about 20 minutes and be in Gulf Shores, it is very commercialized and all kinds of things to do. When you get off the ferry you are at a big parking lot so you will need your vehicle. It was very nice to go visit Gulf Shores for the day and then go back to the peaceful Dauphin Island at night. We will be going back for our 3rd year this year. Barnacle Bill%26#39;s seemed like had the big tv%26#39;s in it%26#39;s restaurant. Someone else might be able to give you a little more info on watching the games. Enjoy your trip to Dauphin Island. If you go to gulfshores.com you can see alot of things to do during your day trip to Ft. Morgan side. Just make sure you%26#39;re back in time to catch the ferry back to the island or you will have about a 2 hour drive trying to get back. Enjoy!
