Liquor Stores

Can someone tell me what the sales tax on liquor is in Gulf Shores. Trying to decide if its cheaper to buy liquor in TN or down there.

Also can someone suggest a liquor store with a good selection of wine choices? Maybe somewhere convenient to the house we are renting near Ft. Morgan?

Thanks!

Liquor Stores

I THINK, but not positive, sales tax in GS is 9%. OB I think is 8%.

Nice wine shop on east 2nd ave in GS, but I can%26#39;t remember the name. I think it is The Wine Shop. Her prices are a little stiff, but she has some good labels in there. This one would be the most convenient to Ft Morgan.

The Grape Escape in OB has a lot of good bottles, as does a new place on Canal Road next to a store called Tobacco Road.

Liquor Stores

if you%26#39;re buying liquor liquor (gin, vodka, etc) then the cheapest place in town is the ABC store on 59 2 blocks from the beach. beware they have banker-like hours and do not sell beer/wine/mixers

Trust me buy it at home and take it with you. Last year I bought a bottle of Captain Morgan%26#39;s and paid $20.00 for the same bottle that cost me $16 at home. Beer is also higher, not many choices in Ft. Morgan if you want it you buy or drive 20 miles back into Gulf Shores.

As a fellow Tennessean let me remind you that they can buy wine in the grocery stores down there. We%26#39;ve always found a reasonably good selection at the grocery store on the corner of Highway 59 and Highway 180 (sorry, can%26#39;t remember the name).

The wal-mart in gulf shores also sells beer, And I believe wine,,,

There is a liquor store next to the grocery store the other poster tld you about,

Next to a mexican restaurant , in the shopping center next to the road to fort morgan..

There also is a burger king in the same parking lot.

The grocery store at Hwy 59 and Hwy 180 is Bruno%26#39;s. Bring your checkbook. There is indeed a small liquor store in the Bruno%26#39;s shopping center. Limited selection, don%26#39;t recall seeing any wine in there. The drug store in that center also sells beer and wine.

Not sure about the taxes, but Alabama does have ABC stores (Alcoholic Beverage Control) that are ran by the state. I believe that everyone else can sell beer/wine, but to get any other type of liquor you need to go to one of the ABC stores. But check out this link...

http://www.abc.alabama.gov/index.aspx

there is actually a link to the prices they charge for each item.

As I stated earlier, if you want hard liquor, go to the ABC store 1 block from the beach on Hwy 59 across from the Shrimp Basket. All they sell is liquor and they have the best prices, period. Weird/banker hours so keep that in mind.

Most all grocery/convenience stores sell beer. They also sell on Sundays (as a former Atlanta resident this was a pleasant surprise)

The Bruno%26#39;s mentioned at the corner of 59/180 sells beer and wine (fairly good selection). So does the Rite Aid next to it. (they have a killer deal right now on 5 Oaks wine for $3 a bottle)

Our beer prices are a bit higher than most. The Exxon at 59/County Rd 4 has good prices (tobacco too-cheaper than anywhere I%26#39;ve seen)

Hope this helps.
