Warning !!! Meyer Condo Rental Company

Do not rent from them during hurricane season! We booked a room for Labor Day along with their trip insurance. Now we are told by the insurance company that the only way we can collect our rental fee is if there is a mandatory evacuation.

Meyer http://www.meyerre.com/ does not ever issue refunds!!!! Never again will we rent from them....too many other reputable companies that consider the rentors safety 1st, not the money.

So what would your rules be for refunds?

Warning !!! Meyer Condo Rental Company

Refunds are only issued only through their trip insurance company and only then if there is a mandatory evacuation....Meyer does not refund the money paid to them even if there is a hurricane on the way. Unbelievable!

I understand that it%26#39;s extremely disappointing to have a planned trip spoiled. But, to be fair, I think if you check other rental agencies in the area, you will find all have the criteria of ';mandatory evacuation'; for refunds and it says so in their policies. (At least all of the ones I checked did.) Likewise with trip insurance companies. The last place we rented was through vrbo.com, not an agency, but it also recommended trip insurance ';in the event of a mandatory evacuation';. I%26#39;d be happy to hear if anyone knows a place we could rent from that doesn%26#39;t.

I%26#39;m not sure what the OP would have Meyer do. We don%26#39;t know if ';there is a hurricane on the way'; or not, and probably won%26#39;t until Sunday evening. If the reference is to a hurricane on the way to where the OP lives, that is an issue to take up with the trip insurance company, not Meyer.

You might check again. We used Brett-Robinson Realty there. We are scheduled to check in on the first. They have changed their cancellation policy for this storm and are giving full refunds.

Check with Meyer and see if they%26#39;ve changed anything.

I have to agree with the others, it%26#39;s not mandatory yet and may not be. If you are in LA seems like you might be safer at the AL Gulf Coast that in LA.

It seems Governor Riley is expected to issue mandatory evacuation notice tomorrow. Here%26#39;s a link to the City of Gulf Shores%26#39; website:

Yes,we are from Louisiana...but due to ';Historical Dual Contraflow'; we would not have been able to return home on Labor Day....

For the record,I know of two rental companies in Gulf Shores that are refunding money minus the processing fee.

Thank You Dodgeball

A mandatory evacuation was called and your trip insurance will pay (I assume you used CSA). The only reason the mandatory evacuation was called was so that people could collect from their insurance.
