I%26#39;ll be visiting Montgomery with a few friends later this year. Is there anywhere I could do some shooting while I%26#39;m there and what sort of things can I shoot? Is there anywhere in town I can get a decent gun or should I pick one up before getting into town?

If you%26#39;re from outside the US you can%26#39;t purchase any type of firearm legally!

Your best bet is to find a shooting range that will rent you a gun for an hour or so while at the range. The only place that shows in the phone directory for Montgomery that shows any promise is Lower Wetumpka Shotgun Sports Club which has some clays shooting and rents shotguns.

Are there any animals its possible to hunt in the area or is it likely to be limited to pheasants? Just looking for something a bit bigger to pop off - I%26#39;d imagine pheasants to be similar to shooting pigeons in the garden at home. :o)

Nothing much in season until later in the year. Varmints like coyote and crop pests like black birds and crows are always open season. I%26#39;m not sure how you would get a hunting permit since you are required to provide a social security number for any hunting or fishing license. If you contact the state wildlife office they will be able to tell you if international visitors can get a hunting license.
